FLOATING AXLE
While they look like other axles, swing axles offer a distinct performance advantage due to their unique ability to precisely match the width of the fork wheel mounting surface to the front hub flange spacing, creating perfect chassis alignment and eliminating unwanted friction between the upper and lower fork legs. Swing axles provide a much smoother suspension movement throughout the fork’s travel, specifically improving sensitivity and overall ride quality.
The all-new 36 and 38 feature a new, patent-pending, lever-operated thru-axle quick-release system that combines the advantages of a thru-axle with the ease of a tool-free quick release. This system locks the spacing via a floating sleeve, allowing for repeated removal and installation of the front wheel while maintaining perfect fork alignment. The floating sleeve position is preset at the factory, so if you don’t know how to use the floating axle system or simply don’t want to worry about it, you can simply install the front wheel and ride.
Available as an option is the new Kabolt-X, a lightweight, bolt-on thru-axle exclusive to the all-new 36 and 38 models. It not only reduces weight but also increases torsional rigidity thanks to its single-sided, sleeveless clamp-bolt design. The chassis alignment must be readjusted each time the front wheel is removed and reinstalled on Kabolt-X and 40 swing axles, but the end result is the same: perfect alignment and perfect performance.
