The high-speed recording at 120 fps facilitates 4x and 5x slow-motion video capture, configurable at either 30p or 24p. The Slow & Quick (S&Q) mode enables filmmakers to record 4K video at adjustable frame rates between 1-60 fps and Full HD between 1-120 fps, depending on the selected format, allowing for both slow-motion and accelerated sequences. 

The S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine gamma curves provide over 15 stops of dynamic range, enhancing post-production flexibility and enabling seamless integration with footage from other Sony Cinema Line cameras. S-Cinetone offers a unique color profile that produces vibrant colors and natural skin tones, drawing on technology from professional Cinema Line cameras like the VENICE, characterized by well-balanced mid-tones, soft hues, and finely controlled highlights. Additionally, Creative Looks can be applied directly to the recorded footage to establish a desired aesthetic during filming, reducing the need for extensive editing later. AI-Powered Autofocus and Image Stabilization

The AI processing unit of the Sony a7C II significantly enhances the camera’s autofocus and image stabilization systems, providing exceptional handling and clarity across various shooting environments. With 759 phase detection points in stills mode and 495 points in video mode, which cover 94% of the image area, the system is further augmented by AI-driven subject recognition and real-time tracking capabilities. Additionally, the AI processor introduces a novel autoexposure algorithm, known as Human Pose Estimation, which optimizes exposure areas, resulting in a 20% increase in overall exposure accuracy. The auto white balance feature also benefits from the advanced AI processor, improving performance in challenging lighting situations. Other notable autofocus functionalities include focus bracketing for up to 299 images with sequentially adjusted focus points, enhanced focus accuracy in low-light conditions down to EV -4.0, focus breathing compensation, autofocus assist, focus mapping, and focus peaking during autofocus operations.

Vlog-Friendly AI-Enhanced Framing

Furthermore, the AI Processing Unit is capable of identifying and monitoring subjects during video recording, automatically cropping the image to ensure that the subject remains prominently positioned within the frame, thereby simplifying what would otherwise be challenging camerawork.
