Not to be confused with ‘Musashino’, the ‘Musashino Silhouette’ is more narrow growing. Both originated at the Saitama Botanical Garden in Japan. ‘Musashino’ made it into the nursery trade as a street tree. ‘Musashino Silhouette’ is just as hardy, much rarer in cultivation and very columnar in its form. ‘Musashino Silhouette’ may reach 15-20 ft in height by 4-5 ft in width in 10 years.  Fall color is a bright orange to red.
