The Lennox X6670 – Healthy Climate HCF16-11 MERV 11 Replacement Filter is the upgraded version of the MERV 10. What do the Numbers and Information Mean on Lennox Furnace Filters?

The Healthy Climate Filter, or HCF16-10, was replaced by this upgraded version of the MERV 11. The MERV is the Minimum Efficiency Rating Value and it offers a scale from about 1 to 20. The importance of this scale is that the higher the MERV rating of a replacement filter, the more efficiently it filters small particles out of the air each time it passes through the filter. Anything higher than a MERV 7 typically helps with protecting, and in some cases, improving the air within a home. For people with allergy or asthma, we typically recommend a replacement filter with a MERV rating of above 11.

How Often Should I Replace My Lennox X6670 Filter?

As a general rule of thumb, we recommend 5” furnace filters be changed every 12 months or when they are visibly showing signs of being dirty. Believe it or not, your air filter plays a pretty significant role in keeping your furnace healthy and in proper working order. Since furnace filters can’t get rid of the debris they collect, if your Lennox X6670 air filter is not changed often enough, it will eventually clog to the point that air cannot pass through it.
