Our team has developed a wetsuit particularly suited to surfing and bodyboarding in summer in water above 21°C.
How to choose the right combination? (Part 1)
The first criterion for choosing a wetsuit is the water temperature. Water temperatures vary depending on the location and the time of year. Therefore, always make sure that the water temperature at your spot corresponds to the recommended temperature range: Water above 20°C. Water between 17 and 22°C. Water between 12 and 17°C. Water between 7 and 12°C. Visit seatemperature.org to find out the temperature at your spot.
How to choose the right combination? (Part 2)
The second criterion to consider is the duration of your sessions. If your sessions last less than an hour, the 2 models will be suitable. Up to 100 hours, choose the 2 models and up to 500 hours, the 3 models. Compared to the 900 models, the 100 models will limit fatigue more (+ freedom of movement) and will better limit irritation. The same goes for the 500 models compared to the 900 models. NB: the 500 models are – easy to put on.
Choose your size well
To take full advantage of the functionality of your wetsuit, it is necessary to choose the right size. A surf suit should be worn very snug and there should be no visible creases. When dry it is normal to feel too tight, this discomfort disappears as soon as the suit is wet. If you choose a suit that is too big, wrinkles will form and irritations will appear.
Materials
These 500 OLAIAN shorts are made of neoprene to ensure greater comfort during use. The neoprene is lined with synthetic fabric for added durability. Neoprene thickness: 1,5 mm. Neoprene is made of an elastomer foam that has insulating properties. We test and guarantee the quality of our neoprene materials.
Collar
The finish of the collar has been studied to limit irritation. Depending on individual sensitivity, it is possible to wear a UV top under the suit to limit the risk of irritation. The application of greasy cream (eg Vaseline) in the areas of friction (neck, armpits) is also recommended in the event of long use. Be sure to position the flap inside the suit to limit any risk of irritation with the Zip and the collar.
Adjustable velcro closure
Our zips and closures are laboratory tested to ensure optimal lifespan and good resistance to salt water. We position the closure at the back of the wetsuit for more comfort when practicing board sports (lying down while paddling).
Key pocket
A key pocket is located under the zip flap.
Anti-irritation cut
We have designed this product with seamless panels under the arms to limit irritation associated with repeated rowing movements in board sports.
Stay warm longer with thermal accessories! Each temperature range has its own range…
When we are in the water, it is through the extremities of the body (feet, hands, head) that we lose more than half of our body heat. Therefore, here are the recommended accessories: – in water (>17°C) => low neoprene booties. – in water (12 – 17°C): High booties (booties) and gloves. – in water (7 – 12°C): High booties (booties), gloves, hood and hooded top.
Multi-watersport wetsuits
Our wetsuits are designed to meet the most demanding surfers. Our design choices also make them compatible with other water sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, active sea walking (longe-côte) or SUP (stand-up paddle).

What is the OLAIAN brand?
OLAIAN, DECATHLON’S SURF BRAND Based in Hendaye, in the southwest of France, OLAIAN is Decathlon’s surf brand. In our waterfront offices, we can design a shorty in a single day, then test it directly in real-life surfing conditions.
Shorty offering more stretch on the upper body for better freedom of movement during surfing maneuvers.
