The weight of your pool cue

Your pool cue weighs approximately 400 g (13 oz) in 122 cm or 540 g (19 oz) in 145 cm, with a 10% tolerance. As cues are made of wood, the weight cannot be absolutely guaranteed: the density of the fiber, even for the same wood species, varies from one forest to another; in the same tree there can be significant variations, depending on the exposure to the sun, the section harvested (bolt, crown, treetop, top). To start with, you should aim for a rather heavy cue.

The dimensions of your tail

Your American pool cue measures 122 cm, or 48 inches (1 inch = 2,54 cm) or 145 cm (57 inches). In the case of the 122 cm format, this will allow you to play more easily in smaller spaces. This size will also be suitable for players of smaller stature because ideally, the top of the pool cue reaches shoulder height.

Why can’t we guarantee the straightness of our pool cues?

All of our pool cues are handmade. The straightness is checked individually, piece by piece, at the end of manufacture. However, as billiard cues are made of wood, variations in temperature and humidity during transport, storage, in store, can upset this straightness requirement. This difficulty is true for all billiard cues on the market, all those made of wood in any case (maple, ash, poplar, ramin).

Why yellow poplar?

Poplar is a popular wood species: often used for indoor furniture for its technical characteristics and accessibility; poplar has the advantage of drying quickly without deforming. It also has the advantage of possessing excellent natural straightness: poplars grow straight. This makes it a great choice for pool cues, which need to be as straight as possible.

How to keep your billiard cue?

Our team recommends keeping your pool cue away from humidity and temperature fluctuations. After each game, don’t leave your cue leaning against a wall, as this could cause it to warp. It’s best to store it flat in a case or storage bag. Alternatively, store your cue as vertically as possible, using a cue rack, for example: this helps keep it straight and prevents warping.

Did you know ? The process of your billiard cue is maintained.

Your cue, and especially its tip (the tip), wears out due to repeated impacts with the cue ball. In addition to this wear by “compression”, the tip deteriorates by abrasion (chalk is a powerful abrasive that wears away the leather tip). Hence the need to change your tip regularly. To change it, nothing could be simpler: 1/ Remove the damaged tip 2/ Sand the new tip 3/ Glue the tip 4/ Work on the tip 5/ All you have to do is play!

Why a one-piece cue?

Choose simplicity and speed with this one-piece cue: a one-piece cue requires no assembly, it is ready to play, immediately! Its absence of a half or three-quarter joint makes the one-piece pool cue stronger and straighter than a take-apart cue. Proper straightness is influenced by two factors: the straightness over time of the shaft (the front part of the cue), the alignment of the butt and shaft at the joint.
