Lightweight waterproof hiking jacket – MH150 – Men

At the foot of Mont-Blanc, our team of enthusiasts has designed this waterproof jacket that will protect you during your occasional hikes in the mountains.

COUPE

Regular cut. Interior volume allowing this jacket to be worn in combination with a warm 2nd layer garment, such as a sweater or fleece.

HOOD

Adjustable in height with an elastic cord and tightening piece. Adjustable in depth with a Velcro strap positioned at the back of the hood. Visor on the top of the hood for good face protection.

MAIN COMPONENT

2,5-layer construction: The membrane is glued under the outer fabric and protected by a thin film on the inside. We use it for lightweight jackets.

MEMBRANE

A product’s waterproofness depends on two main criteria: its component and its construction. This product was constructed with a membrane. It’s a type of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight, and breathable.

LAYER CONSTRUCTION

COMPONENT WATERPROOFING

To ensure the waterproofing level of a component, laboratory tests are carried out. This involves measuring the resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on the JIS 1092 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This component has a waterproof rating of 15000 mm and therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 15000 mm of water column. This is also equivalent to 15000 Schmerbers.

WATERPROOF JACKET

To ensure the jacket’s waterproofing level, we conduct laboratory tests to simulate rain scenarios. This garment has been validated in a shower test under 60 l of water / m² / hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain downpour.

BREATHABILITY

The breathability of a component is measured by its “Thermal Evaporative Resistance” (RET). This is its ability to allow water vapor produced by the body during exercise to escape to the outside and thus prevent water from accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product has been rated at 10 RET

HOW TO REACTIVATE WATER REPELLENCE

The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to allow water to slide off its surface without absorbing it. The textile does not become waterlogged and remains light and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by a treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. Water repellency can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the dryer for 10 minutes at a low temperature. You can also use the re-waterproofing agent (ref. 8554908)
