The planetary action of these mixers produces a thorough blending of ingredients, along with ideal mixing of air and other gases into the product, as well as thorough mixing of ingredients as it rotates around the bowl of the mixer. A planetary mixer has a series of blades that are arranged like planets around a sun. Each blade is angled so that it meets the next one at a sharp edge.
