Hardy Garden Amaryllis Ocean Drive

A recent development in the world of Amaryllis, this unique bulb was specially bred to be planted outdoors and withstand mild frost. It has taken the breeder (Berbee) 30 years to realize this amazing achievement, starting with collecting Amaryllis bulbs at high elevations where frost is common. The result is a line of Garden Amaryllis that is successfully grown outdoors in The Netherlands year round. Ocean Drive is a standout, too, producing 1 to 2 stems, each with 3 to 4 red blooms adorned with contrasting white stripes and green centers. They add island-inspired beauty to bouquets and cut-flower arrangements. Plus, they can be forced indoors just like traditional Amaryllis. We like them planted in containers that can overwinter indoors in colder weather.
